Covid-19  Measures

In order to best protect our community and staff members, we have implemented several risk reduction and social distancing measures:

  • You will be asked a few questions when booking and checking in for your appointment according to the RACGP triage and screening standards.
     

  • If you have cold and flu symptoms, we ask you do not attend the practice and organize a telephone appointment initially. Please organize a COVID-19 swab for yourself through one of the testing facilities on the SA health website or a RAT test on the day of your appointment. Patients with a negative COVID-19 test can attend the practice but we require a mask to be worn to minimise illness spreading to your doctor or other patients. 

  • Telephone consultations are available. Patients who have seen one of our doctors for a face-to-face appointment in the last 12 months, or under the age of 12 months of age, homeless or in a COVID hot spot can access a Medicare rebated phone consultations. For further information you can speak to one of our friendly receptionist staff. 

 
If you have any of the following symptoms you may require a COVID-19 test as per SA Health Recommendations or RAT test. 

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Fever

  • Difficulty breathing

We welcome all patients to our medical clinic.

For new patients, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment in order to complete the new patient form and allow our reception staff to complete your patient file.

We do not prescribe drugs of dependence such as a Diazepam, Endone, Panadeine forte, Tramadol or Oxazepam for new patients. Please be aware that doctors may not prescribe drugs of dependence.

Fees
 

As of the 1st of August 2021 we will become a Private Billing Practice. A gap payment will apply to consultations, with the full payment required on the day. The gap payment varies depending on the doctor seen and additional fees may apply. During After hours and weekend appointments all patients are charged the same rate regardless or concession card status or children. Please speak to our receptionist staff for further information about our fees. 

This fee is payable in full on the day at the end of the consultation, another appointment cannot be offered until the consultantion has been paid in full. 

Telephone appointments also incur a gap payment, a medicare rebate is applicable if you have been seen face to face within the last 12 months. We are unable to be responsible for checking your date of last face-to-face visit if you book your telephone appointment online. 

Appointments such as Health Assessments (Over the 75+ Health Check), Chronic Disease Management Plans and Government Funded Childhood Immunisations may be be Bulk Billed. 

 

For extra services such as Mirena Insertions, Iron Infusions and Minor Procedures/skin excisions an additional procedure fee will apply. Please speak to your doctor and receptionist staff for fee information regarding the procedure type, fee vary depending on your treatment. Non-Medicare card holders are required to settle their fee in full on the day. 
Newborns who are awaiting a medicare will also need to pay in full on the day, which can be claimed by medicare by the parents.

After hours = Public holidays, Sundays, Saturdays, Monday-Friday after 6pm.

## As of the 1st of January 2023 our fees will be changing, please be reminded that all payments need to be made in full at the time of the appointment. 

COVID PROTOCOLS
 

Due to the changing nature of Covid-19, we have implemented protocols in the clinic for the health and safety of our staff and patients. Please be patient as we are trying our best to help you and the community. When you arrive to the clinic for an appointment please see our receptionist staff who will screen you to ensure you do not have COVID-19 symptoms. If you are unwell with cold-flu symptoms, cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat please let our staff know so they can organise you a telephone consultation instead. SA Health has respiratory clinics open 7 days a week for those who have symptoms requiring review. 

 

Overseas Students/Visitors

Please speak to the receptionist regarding fees that apply. 

Transfer of notes

To transfer your medical record from a previous clinic to Klemzig Village Medical Clinic, please fill out and sign this form. Once completed and signed it can be faxed or dropped off to the reception staff at Klemzig Village Medical Clinic. 

Telephone policy

We understand there may be times you wish to speak to your GP for further advice, however, our doctors are unable to take non-scheduled phone calls. We can offer you a scheduled phone appointment with your GP to discuss your needs. Please inform our reception staff if your call is urgent. If your medical concern is an emergency, please call an ambulance on 000. 

Email policy

The RACGP does not recommend the use of email for the transfer of patient information. Email is not considered secure as it is not encrypted. We regret we are generally unable to send your results and other clinical information to you by email. If you would like copies of your results we are happy to provide you with a printed copy.

 

Reminders

Our Practice is committed to preventative care. We use a computerised reminder system for specific recalls, such as reminders for follow up blood tests and vaccinations. 

Confidentiality

Your medical file is a confidential document.  It is the policy of this Practice to maintain security and confidentiality of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.

 

Vaccinations

All Government Childhood vaccines are available and free of charge for Medicare card holders.  For those without a Medicare Card, Klemzig Village Medical Clinic does not provide catch up vaccinations. We also do not update Australia Immunisation Record (AIR) for immunisations not provided through the clinic. 
If you require assistance with AIR please call them directly on 1800 653 809 or visit your nearest medicare or Centrelink Service Centre and contact your local council for your nearest vaccination centre. 

Travel vaccination advice is available and a script for recommended vaccinations can be organize on the day. 

Childhood vaccinations for individuals without Medicare cards will require purchase of the vaccinations prior to the GP appointment, this can be arranged in consultation with your GP separately from the vaccination booking. 

 

Anti-social Behaviour Policy

We understand that you may be unwell, stressed or anxious. Our Practice has a zero-tolerance policy towards violence, anti-social behaviour and will not tolerate verbal or physical threats made towards members of the staff or General Practitioners or other patients. 

DNA POLICY

Failure to attend appointments or give 2 hours cancellation notice will result in a $25 DNA fee. Please avoid this by calling ahead if you cannot make your appointment.

Workcover or MVA consultations

If you wish to have a WorkCover or MVA consultations please  inform our reception staff at the time of making the appointment and fill out the relevant form prior to your appointment with the GP. The account will need to be paid privately on the day, we will issue an invoice which you can take to your MVA or work cover claims manager.

WorkCover and Motor Vehicle Accident accounts are ultimately the patient’s responsibility. Please ensure your WorkCover claim is submitted and notify us of your claim number. For Motor Vehicle Accident claims, please identify and advise us of your Compulsory Third Party insurer as soon as possible – details on how to find your insurer can be found at http://www.ctp.sa.gov.au/insurers.html
